Synopsis

He would sell his warrior soul to possess her…

An alluring laird…

He was known throughout the kingdom as Hawk, legendary predator of the battlefield and the boudoir. No woman could refuse his touch, but no woman ever stirred his heart – until a vengeful fairy tumbled Adrienne de Simone out of modern-day Seattle and into medieval Scotland. Captive in a century not her own, entirely too bold, too outspoken, she was an irresistible challenge to the sixteenth-century rogue. Coerced into a marriage with Hawk, Adrienne vowed to keep him at arm’s length – but his sweet seduction played havoc with her resolve.

A prisoner in time…

She had a perfect “no” on her perfect lips for the notorious laird, but Hawk swore she would whisper his name with desire, begging for the passion he longed to ignite within her. Not even the barriers of time and space would keep him from winning her love. Despite her uncertainty about following the promptings of her own passionate heart, Adrienne’s reservations were no match for Hawk’s determination to keep her by his side…

My Review

Let me just start this off by first saying that the Highlander Series is one of my favorites, a series I will always continue to reread over and over again until the books start to disintegrate.

Beyond a Highland Mist is about this big brawny highland warrior living in Scotland; Hawk. A man who has woman dropping at his feet because of his positive reputation in the bedroom. One vengeful jealous fairy wants to make him pay. Enter Adrienne De Simone, a woman who aims to be immune of good looking men’s charms, Adrienne is thrust from her time to one in the past and right into the arms of Hawk.

Hawk does come off as a bit of a brooding bum, but as the story unfolds, we really get to know him and eventually the root of why he is the way he is. His story is quite unfair but he does what he can to make the best of it.

I didn’t really like Adrienne’s attitude to men in the beginning. She was on a contradicting fence most of the novel between drooling over the two men or letting everyone know how much she hates beautiful men. < It was kind of annoying. HOWEVER…her story does merit her attitude toward them in the beginning, and when it finally comes out, its a sad tale.

I didn’t like Adam Black at all. I thought he was a bit of a presumptuous bum. Quite the vindictive man. Okay so he was jealous, but really to take it as far as he did, was just unfair.

Overall it was a good novel, not one of my favorites from this series but still one that I love to reread on a rainy day when I want to dream of the Scottish Highlands that I long to visit.
